SCAM ALERT!
Our agency has been receiving multiple complaints regarding the IRS calling them and telling them they owe money, there's a warrant for their arrest, that they're parked down the street and coming to arrest them, etc. This is a scam! Never give out personal information over the phone. If you get a call from someone who says they are from the IRS, please call 1-800-366-4484 which is a legitimate number to report suspicious activity.
We are also receiving complaints from citizens that they are getting calls from someone from the Sheriff's Office saying they need send money or purchase gift cards, etc to take care of a warrant or pay a fine. The Sheriff's Office will never ask for money or gift cards. If you ever have a doubt, please call the Sheriff's Office.
